Maureen Barry RIP

The death of Mrs. Maureen Barry, Ringaskiddy has been announced. This lovely genial lady has been an integral part of the local community all her life and of course she was the Sacristan at the Oratory Church. Ever present in this very special holy place she treasured every minute there.
No one was so pleased and elated when the Oratory underwent a complete overhaul and rebuild.
Her endearing personality and pleasant smile were her trade marks. She was a native of Ballygarvan.

She is survived by her two sons Kieran and Denis. Both of them starred on the Shamrock Under 14 Football team of 1972 that brought the Club its very first County title in that code. Denis was in goal and Kieran at full back. Kieran went on to captain the Shamrock Junior football team in 1989 to win the Championship title back to back. In 1990 he captained the Carrigdhoun Senior Football team and they won their first championship match in twenty one years.

Her passing is a huge loss to our local community. We will all miss her greatly.
We send our deepest sympathies to Kieran and Denis and their extended families and the Fenton families of Ballygarvan..

Ni beidh a leithéad ann aris agus ar dheis Dé go raibh a hAnam dilis.
