Shamrocks 5-2, Whitechurch 2-8
Shamrocks travelled to Whitechurch today short a number of regulars. Nevertheless, they came away with a hard fought win, showing commendable spirit in the process.
Shamrocks played against a significant breeze in the first half.
The Shamrocks backs were excellent, restricting Whitechurch to 2-3 in a closely contested half.
Shamrocks scored 2-2 to find themselves 1 point in arrears at the break – Eoin O’Flynn with 1-2 and Jack O’Leary with 1-0.
Whitechurch enjoyed quite an amount of possession during the second half.
But for some trojan defending, Whitechurch might have been out of sight. Shamrocks found ourselves 5 points down half way through the second half and in big trouble.
They had introduced their youngest player, Cian Lynch, at half time.
Three goals in roughtly three attacks from Cian were the standout highlights of the second half.
To be fair, all players made important contributions during the game which was pleasing.
Their Manager, Stephen Keane, was delighted afterwards and congratulated each and everyone of the players for their contribution.
A fantastic win and a big boost to the lads who lost to the same opposition unlucklily in the U12 Hurling League last week.
