U14 FL V Lisgood – 19/3

Lisgoold 3-6, Shamrocks 2-8

Shamrocks and Lisgoold played out a cracker in Lisgoold on Saturday afternoon in Shamrocks first league game of the season and it resulted in a one point win for Lisgoold.

The teams were evenly matched all through but Shamrocks will rue the many wides they kicked over the hour. The scoring was low in the first half with Lisgoold leading 1-3 to 0-5 at HT with Shamrocks getting points through Harry Andrews, Shane Darcy and Adam Maye.

Shamrocks were the better team in the second half and went ahead after a great team move was finished expertly to the net by Cian O’Flaherty. Lisgoold responded almost straight away with a goal of their own to level things up but Shamrocks edged ahead by 3 points after a few points from Eoin O’Flynn (frees), and Dylan Gregson.

The game hung right in the balance with 10 minutes to go. Shamrocks scored a great Eoin O’Flynn goal to push them 3 points clear with time almost up but the home side were really pushing now and the dam broke unfortunately from a Shamrocks point of view in injury time with that last second 1-1 concession.

It was a fantastic display from Shamrocks and despite the result, it argues well for the season.
