U12 Football Challenge V Crosshaven – 29/8

Crosshaven 5-7, Shamrocks 5-0

Once again, Shamrocks took on a higher graded team, in this case a Crosshaven team top of their table. It proved to be a Jeykll and Hyde display from Shamrocks.

After starting the brighter, Shamrocks went out of the game and Crosshaven’s strong players came to the fore. They scored 5 goals in a row and it was desperation time for Shamrocks. They managed to steady the ship somewhat and Harry Andrews scored a goal just before HT. HT score was Crosshaven 5-4, Shamrocks 1-0.

A bit of a talking to at HT worked the trick and Shamrocks came more into it. They scored a couple of quick goals through Cian O’Flaherty, Derry Howard and Mark Sisk. The rest of the game was played out in an even manner more or less with all the subs getting game time.

This is the end of the football season for the u12’s. They had a good year and can count themselves unlucky that they didn’t qualify for the final of the league. Attendance at training and matches has been excellent with the attitude spot on. Our thanks to the managers/coaches of Stephen Keane, Pa Andrews and Seamus O’Flynn ably assisted by John Jordan and Catherine Sisk on communications. If something was stirring at u12, Catherine made sure the players and parents knew about it! Well done to the players and parents for their support also.
