JAFC V Tracton – 4/7

In a pulsating finish Philip Brady grabbed an equalizer almost in the sixth minute of added time. Philip’s point ensured that Shamrocks would live to fight another day.

Credit Shamrocks for coming back every time Tracton looked like moving into top gear.
We had the worse of starts with Tracton 0-4 to 0-0 on the ten minute stage. We were conceding some silly frees in the scoring zone and Tracton took the scoring opportunities from dead balls. At the break Tracton led 0-8 to 0-6.
On the resumption, corner back Johnny Tuohy ran the length of the pitch to kick over a splendid point. The exchanges were very competitive and when our best forward Darragh O’Sullivan scored a well taken goal we had our noses in front by one point. It was short lived and Tracton, with clever play got their goal to go back in front.

We struggled throughout the game trying to win the kickouts. Tracton exerted almost total dominance in this vital area. We also did poorly winning breaking balls. Despite these negatives we had some fight in our team and they pushed and tried right up to the end and saved the game.
Well done to all the lads and Mentors Michael Kidney, John Herlihy and Pat McCarthy.
It was great to see Todds present driving on the team.
