The untimely death of Frank Thompson of Aghamartha and late of Raheens has shook us all with forlorn and deep sadness.
Frank was a member of a well known and highly respected family who were prominent and progressive farmers at Raheens for many years. In the late 1980’s, they moved to Aghamartha just outside Carrigaline, their lands having been acquired for industrialisation.
Frank played under age with Shamrocks and he was a very fine goalkeeper. His father Peter and his uncle Oliver were great friends of our Club and they always provided a tractor and mower to cut our playing pitches. Our groundsman at the time, the late Flor McCarthy, had the machinery available to him year in year out.
Frank will be a huge loss to his wife, children and extended family.
Our deepest sympathy is extended to his dear wife Ailish, his sons Richard and Peter and daughter Rachel, to his dear mother Catherine, his brother Peter sisters Suzanne, Karen and Diane, his uncle Oliver and his many friends and relatives.
May he rest in peace.
