Whitescross 5-5, Shamrocks 2-11
Shamrocks made the journey to Whitescross last evening to play the home team in the U14 hurling league. This game was played on the second pitch in Whitescross. Both teams found the pitch condition extremely difficult to play hurling on as the grass had just been cut but it was left all over the pitch. In fact it was impossible to play any ground hurling at all.
The game itself was a close affair with the home team winning by 3 points on a score line of 5-5 to 2-11. An excellent second half was played by our lads and they didn’t deserve to lose this game. The backs were excellent throughout. Seán Browne at midfield was brilliant. He scored some points from all angles and was constantly running at their defence with blistering pace.
Our forwards found the going difficult. These lads tried their heart out. In fact three of them are still under 12. This team is improving all the time and can only get better with more games and training. A special thank you to all the parents who travelled and to Tim Hayes who went straight from work to help out with the managing of this team.
