Shamrocks 3-5, Kinsale 3-5
Both teams played out great game of hurling in Kinsale on Monday evening and in the end, a draw was the result.
Shamrocks led at HT by 1-3 to 0-3 after Harry Andrews with 2 points from frees, Derry Howard from play and Eoin O’Flynn with a goal had given Shamrocks the advantage.
They were looking good midway through the second half as Shamrocks opened up a 3-4 to 1-3 lead after further goals from Harry Andrews from a powerfully struck free and a Josh Bartlett effort but Shamrocks took their eye off the ball somewhat and Kinsale scored 2 goals direct from a sideline cut and a long range free and it was all square. Neither team was able to get the winner in the remaining 5 minutes and so it finished up level.
Shamrocks are making progress slowly in their hurling at this level; some players more than others but it was pleasing to see that their first touch, that most important of components in hurling, has taken a step forward since the last game. Keep practising at home. They have a busy June between hurling and football so lets keep it together at this age group. Thanks to all the players and supporters who made the trip to Kinsale.
