JAFL V Ballymartle – 27/4

Shamrocks 2-9, Ballymartle 0-7

Shamrocks got back on winning ways with a good victory over Ballymartle in Shanbally on Monday evening. This win was both timely and worthwhile as Shamrocks go into their final week of preparation for the Football Championship versus Valley Rovers on Saturday evening next at Ballinhassig at 7pm.

Some of the best scores came from direct play and competent kicking in front of goal. The game saw our backs defend manfully on several occasions and if we can get well-won ball at midfield, into our inside forwards quick and early, then our opponents will have a real tussle on their hands next Saturday.

This game and the outing on Friday last with Carrigaline has helped the team and mentors to get things into shape.

At halftime Shamrocks led 1-5 to 0-4 and again outscored Ballymartle in the second period. Overall it was a solid and encouraging performance and hopefully provide the launch pad for a victory against The Rovers. Well done to all the lads.
