Ballinhassig 0-9, Shamrocks 0-5
An enthusiastic and determined start by Ballinhassig had them leading 0-4 to 0-0 after twenty minutes. In the 22nd, minute Shamrocks registered their first and only point of that half point. At the break the visitors led 0-5 to 0-1.
Shamrocks came out of the blocks in the second half with all guns blazing and quickly kicked two excellent points. After 15 minutes Shamrocks were in the lead for the first time 1-5 to 0-6. Sadly the final quarter was not a good one for Shamrocks with no more scores accrued and their opponents kicked three points to give them a narrow win and the league points.
Some players were a bit rusty but a number of players were well below their best.
Perhaps it is a wakeup call as the championship date draws closer. However credit goes to Sean Kidney, Jason Browne, Chris O’Neill, Brian Sweeney and keeper Fergus O’Neill who could not be faulted.
