U12 HL V Valley Rovers – 31/3

Valley Rovers beat Shamrocks tonight in the first league game of the year. Valleys were a strong outfit and were more physical and technically a better hurling team. They certainly gave the Shamrocks mentors something to think about for the coming season. Final score was Valley Rovers 6-6, Shamrocks 0-5.

Valleys won this game in the first half and led by their few goals at halftime. A few changes were made by the Shamrocks mentors at half time and this resulted in a much improved second half display, Shamrocks winning it by 0-4 to 0-0. The Shamrocks players kept going until the very end. So lots to look forward to.

Managers Pa Andrews and Stephen Keane were unavailable due to other commitments so our thanks to Seamus O’Flynn and Tim Hayes who stood in their absence. Also special mention to Catherine Sisk who communicated with all the parents and ensured that we had 15 players togged and ready to go, no mean feat during the Easter break. Well done to all the players, parents, siblings and grandparents who supported the lads on a bitterly cold evening for hurling.

They’ll take a break now for Easter and will resume football training next Tuesday.
