It is with much regret that we have learned of the death of Mr. Paddy Brennan R.I.P. (29/3/2015)
Mr. Brennan was father of Mary Andrews, wife of Paddy and mother of Patrick, two of our Club’s distinguished and long serving Officers. He was also a grandfather of Senan who is one of our dual Junior players.
Mr. Brennan, from Cappagh just outside Kilrush in Co Clare, was one of the last of the Lighthouse Keepers and served as head lighthouse keeper on the Skellig Michael, The Tuskar Rock off Wexford, Galley Head, Loop Head, the Bull Rock in West Cork, Blacksod in Co Mayo, Ballycotton, and Eeragh on the Aran Islands among other places. He played Gaelic Football for Kilrush Shamrocks Football Club when he was in his younger years before being called to sea. He was a nonagenarian who was born in 1916. He would have been 99 on his next birthday. He was a strong supporter of the GAA and was a member of the Cork GAA Clubs Draw through Shamrocks up until last year.
The President, Officers and members of the Club tender their most profound sympathy to the Andrews family.
