U16 FC Semi Final V Whitescross – 4/10

Shamrocks 4-9, Whitescross 2-5

This wonderful season that Shamrocks are having is still continuing after our victory in Crosshaven against a well organised Whitescross outfit.

We started well and had our noses out in front after David Andrews twice found the net and some lovely points from James Lynam and Mark Hitchmough. Whitescross started to settle and scored 1-2 approaching half time. Mattie Field then got a crucial goal for us just before half time to leave us leading on a scoreline of 3-4 to 1-2.

Whitescross made the better start to the second period and put over some nice points from play. James Lynam, Mark Hitchmough and Cillian Hayes then added some points for us but we were knocked back again when Whitescross got their second goal of the game. Mark Hitchmough then finished off a great Shamrocks move to leave us in the driving seat approaching full time. Both sides exchanged a few more points and when Adam O Keeffe the pointed from the move of the game, it was all over.

Everyone contributed to this great win. Cristeoir Corkery was excellent between the posts. The five backs namely, David Barry, Ruari Mehigan, Chris Hayes, Cormac Scriven and Nathan Hayes played their hearts out. Mark Hitchmough in midfield was dominating matters and the forwards of James Lynam, Andrew O Grady, Mattie Field, Adam O Keeffe and David Andrews had their scoring boots on. The remaining members of the panel were Dylan O Flaherty, Shane Flavin, Shane Downey and Cillian Hayes. We now play Grenagh in the final later this week.
