Shamrocks 4-16, Carrigaline 1-3
Shamrocks easily won this game played in Shanbally on Wednesday evening. The early part of the game was even enough and indeed, Carrigaline scored an early goal to move ahead but Shamrocks got to grips with the game and the long layoff and started to pick off the scores. They scored some nice points from Stephen O’Neill, Roy Twomey with 2, Darragh O’Sullivan, Cannice Caffrey, Alan McCarthy and Barry Mulqueen. Just coming up to HT, Seanán Collins slotted home goal number one and that left the HT score 1-9 to 1-2 in favour of Shamrocks.
Shamrocks then went on a shooting spree in the second half as the Carrigaline challenge wilted with 3 further goals from Stephen O’Neill, Seanán Collins and Barry Mulqueen and some nice points from Mickey O’Neill amongst others.
As a result of this win, Shamrocks are guaranteed to finish in the top 3 of the league which means at least a Semi Final appearance after the other clubs play their outstanding games. TABLE HERE.
