Tracton 7-5, Shamrocks 2-4
Tracton deservedly got the better of Shamrocks in this league game in Shanbally on Saturday morning last. They were bigger and older and scored 4 goals in the first half to grab hold of the game. Shamrocks scored some nice points through Cian O’Flaherty, Eoin O’Flynn and Ferdia Hayes to keep in touch at halftime, 4-2 to 0-4 for the visitors.
Tracton scored some early points before Adam Maye got a great goal to give Shamrocks some hope. However, Tracton reasserted themselves to run out 16 point victors.
This was surely one of the youngest ever Shamrocks teams at u12 level. Due to holidays and injury, no players on the age were available and indeed, exactly half the team were u9 players. They never gave up and its great to see them so enthusiastic and willing in the Shamrocks jersey. The experience of playing in these games will no doubt stand to them. Our thanks to the parents and the players themselves for letting them play to make up the team on the day.
Team: Aiden Brady, Mark Sisk, Adam Maye, Adam McSweeney, Derry Howard, Fionn Herlihy, Cian O’Flaherty, Aaron Clarke, Michael Foy, Ferdia Hayes, Eoin O’Flynn, Robert Barrett.
Hurling training for u12 and u14’s this Tuesday at 6pm. The next u12 game is a hurling league game in 2 weeks.
