U14 FC V Castlelyons – 21/6

 

Shamrocks 3-20, Castlelyons 3-5

 

The Shamrocks u14 footballers are through to the Semi Final of the championship after a great second half performance against Castlelyons in Passage on Saturday afternoon last.

 

Conditions were ideal for football. Both teams started this twelve a side game with high hopes as their league form was very impressive. We scored some fine points and were dominating in most areas of the pitch. The Castlelyons goalkeeper was playing a blinder. He produced four top class saves in the first half alone. Castlelyons got a goal against the run of play to leave them leading by two points. After an excellent Shamrocks move, Billy Hughes found the back of the net to leave us leading at half time 1-06 to 1-04.

 

Some positional switches were made and words of advice was given by Jed O Flaherty and Kieran Lynam. The second half started and we soon found our scoring boots by kicking over eleven points without reply. Dylan O Flaherty and Sam Geary then produced two fast goals to end this game as a contest.

 

Castlelyons rallied and got two late consolation goals the leave us impressive winners at the full time whistle. Each player can be really proud of themselves for an excellent team performance. They were on top throughout the whole game and in every position on the pitch.
