U14 FL V Kinsale – 24/5

Kinsale 5-8, Shamrocks 4-9

Kinsale and Shamrocks served up a thriller in Kinsale on Saturday morning last which resulted in a victory for the home side by 2 points.

Shamrocks can feel that they should have gotten something out of this game as they largely dominated possession throughout. They had more of the possession against a good footballing Kinsale team; they created more goal chances overall but they just couldnt apply the finish when it mattered most in front of the Kinsale posts.

Kinsale got inside for 2 quick fire goals in the first half and it looked ominous at this stage. Shamrocks were having most of the possession but despite points from Cillian Hayes and Shane Downey, they found themselves down by 3-4 to 0-5 at half time.

Shamrocks threw everything at wilting Kinsale in the second half but found the Kinsale keeper unbeatable, he was outstanding to stop many Shamrocks attacks. In that second half, Seán Andrews with 2 goals, Shane Downey from a penalty and Dylan O’Flaherty with a classic predators style goal got Shamrocks back into it but time ran out on the brave Shamrocks effort in the end.

The lads play Football Championship against Dripsey on Wednesday night.
