The playing fields of the Club were filled to capacity with 130 boys and girls from Monkstown, Shanbally and Ringaskiddy National Schools all filled with energy and enthusiasm for the Annual Shamrock’s School Blitz.
With fair weather and good ground conditions the scene was set for this very valuable and worthwhile initiative.
Mixed teams from all the Schools played twenty four games, each lasting 15 minutes.
The participants were drawn from 3rd, 4th and 5th Classes and the Referees and Officials were drawn from the 6th classes. They were all splendid and showed great willingness and keenness.
The teams were well supported and led by their teachers and the many parents who attended enjoyed the programme and the kitchen hospitality.
The programme was supervised by Paudie O’Brien GDA from The County Board.
Our own PRO and Schools Liaison Officer Patrick Andrews put the programme together and had everything set to go.
Much thanks too to John Jordan who did Trojan work. Some of the Club’s elders were on hand too to ensure that all things ran smoothly.
The Annual Schools’ Hurling Blitz will take place in Shanbally on Thursday May 29th at 12 noon.
