Carrigaline 0-13, Shamrocks 0-8
Carrigaline recorded a merited win over Shamrocks at Pairc Thaidhg Ui hAinnlaoi on Thursday evening. Shamrocks were fielding four minor players in the starting fifteen and they all showed much promise. Despite being short a few bodies, the team put up a credible performance against a side that included some excellent exponents of the game of hurling.
It was nip and tuck all the way until Shamrock’s most accomplished hurler, Senan Andrews was forced out with a hamstring injury. His departure saw the game turn in favour of the visitors who then went on to strike some excellent points.
Unfortunately for Shamrocks a cracking shot for goal went to the wrong side of the Carrigaline upright and perhaps our best chance of saving the game evaporated.
It was our first hurling game in three weeks and the players on duty will benefit from it enormously. Well done to all the lads who turned out and gave of their best.
