Shamrocks 0-12, Kinsale 0-4
On a perfect morning for football after all the rain, Shamrocks headed to Kinsale to start the 2014 league campaign.
Shamrocks playing with the wind were 3 points ahead after 10 minutes. Brian Sweeney and Alan McCarthy fielded some great ball at center field. The returning Chris O’ Neill and Cannice Caffrey in the half forword line were cutting through the Kinsale defence
At the half time whistle Shamrocks were leading 9pts to 2pts. In the second half Shamrocks were playing against a strong wind – the backs were on top from the word go and put up a great defence and no one was getting through. Fergus O’ Neill in goal was as solid as ever – Jonathan Touhy, Steven Hurley and Ronan Murphy were excellent in defence. Shamrocks won by 14pts to 5pts after an excellent hour of football.
