Belgooly 2-9, Shamrocks 0-5
South-East Cork Champions Belgooly were in impressive form for their league encounter with Shamrocks played in blustery conditions on their home pitch which was in excellent condition.
Belgooly were into top gear from the throw-in and despite facing the elements were 4 points clear after 23 minutes. On the 24th minute Shamrocks recorded their first point and added three more in quick succession to go into the half time break on even scores.
The home side started the second half full of determination and increased their lead 1-6 to 0-4 after 14 minutes. On the 15th minute Shamrocks recorded their first and only score of the second half. The South-East Champions, aided by the elements, increased their score to come out worthy winners 2-9 to 0-5.
There is every reason to be disappointed, after two fine wins in recent weeks. It is early in the season and the footballers will be back in action over the St. Patrick’s weekend when they play Ballinhassig.
The Junior Hurlers will take to the stage in Kinsale next Sunday March 2nd at 3pm.
