Shanbally NS win Girls Sciath na Scol final – 12/11

ShanballyN.S.  2-9, Cloyne 4-2

In a tense and nail biting game and very little between the teams it would have been a brave or foolish person who would have predicted the winner right up to the Referee’s final whistle.

The teams were level and led each other on several occasions but the will to win by these magnificent girls from Cloyne and Shanbally was absolute.

With one minute left on the clock and the teams level 2-8 to 4-2, Shanbally were awarded a 45 metre free. Magnificent team captain Molly Barrett stepped up and kicked a match winning point and wrote her team into the history books. The huge Shanbally support were in euphoria. It was truly a day to remember and School Principal Mr. David Nolan along with his staff can take a bow.

The coaching and management of team was in the very capable hands of Mr. Paddy Clifford, Ms. Sinead Ni Loinsigh and Ms. Aideen O’Mahony. Comhghairdeas do ghach duine.
