MF Tournament V Ballyphehane – 15/9

Shamrocks 3-8, Ballyphehane 0-3

Shamrocks were delighted to be invited to play Ballypheane in the Michael Harrington Memorial Cup held in conjunction with the Ballypheane Festival 2013.

The game was played on Sunday morning in wet and windy conditions. Shamrocks started well and after the first 20 minutes we had a lead of 1-03 to no score.  Nathan Hayes kicked over the three points while Luke Garvan got the goal.

Shamrocks played against the strong wind in the second half but soon had another 1-03 on the board thanks to a Nathan Hayes goal and Darragh Scriven along with Andrew O Grady putting over some fine points. Ballypheane then got some fine points of their own. A Chris Hayes goal along with two more points left us comfortable winners at the end.

Our captain Sean O Brien accepted the Michael Harrington Cup which was presented by Michael’s daughter. He thanked Ballypheane for their hospitality and their players for the sporting game. He also thanked the Shamrock players and selection committee.
