U10 HL V Courcey Rovers – 22/8

Courcey Rovers 6-0, Shamrocks 0-4

Courcey Rovers proved that bit too good for a gallant Shamrocks u10 hurling side in Shanbally on Thursday evening. They got 4 early goals and that was the defining part of the game. However, from there to the end of the game, the teams were more or less evenly matched but the Shamrocks lads just couldnt put the ball into the opposition goal.

After being 5-0 to 0-1 down at halftime, the Shamrocks lads could have packed in but after a few positional switches, made a great effort of it in the second half and all players played a significant part in the competitive action that unfolded, the spirit shown was excellent. Fionn Herlihy and Harry Andrews scored some nice points and the rest of the players were not afraid to get stuck in.

There still is a lot of hurling work to go into the team; they have only played matches and blitzes so far this year so the next step is training. There are moves to incorporate u10 hurling training into the u12 hurling training, who will train every Wednesday throughout September at 6pm, games and weather permitting. More details to follow on this. In the meantime, they play Tracton at home next Wednesday at 7pm in their last hurling league game.

Our thanks again to the parents who turned out in great numbers to support the lads who included Michael Foy, Mark Sisk, Cian James, Josh Bartlett, Fionn Herlihy, Adam McSweeney, Cian O’Flaherty, Harry Andrews, Aidan Brady, Adam Maye, Aaron Clarke, Ferdia Hayes, Daniel O’Brian.
