JAHL V Ballinhassig – 30/7

Ballinhassig 4-10, Shamrocks 1-7

This delayed League encounter saw a very determined and committed Shamrock side put in a fine effort against their more illustrious and accomplished opponents. The Shamrocks players who lined out on the night showed their true colours and they were there for one thing only and that was to give of their best. They had pride in themselves and their Club.

Every player gave of his best but the youngster Coby O’Mahony put us all on notice that he has a big engine and won’t stand back from anyone.
The magnificent input from twin corner backs O’Reilly and Andrews matched anything Ballinhassig could offer. Up front, Seanán Collins was well up for the occasion and we saw the real Collins leading from the front. Alan McCarthy is making real progress in hurling this season and we saw more of this throughout the game ably assisted for Fergus O’Neill. Barry Mulqueen was safe and sure throughout.

When we needed a late substitute, Kevin O’Mahony, the father of the youngster, threw himself into the fray as only he could.
Ballinhassig deserved their victory but they had to work hard for every score.

With these lads wearing the green jersey, hurling will always be alive and well in our Club.
