Shamrocks took part in a Monster Hurling Blitz in Ballinhassig on a perfect Saturday morning last.
Despite communion being held in Shanbally National School, managers Seamus O’Flynn and Shane O’Donovan were determined to get a team out hurling, in this a 7 a side competition, with the emphasis on participation and fun.
18 teams in total took part and Shamrocks played 3 games; against Carrigaline, Ballinhassig and Sliabh Rua. While scores and winning were not the be all and end all, it was pleasing to note that Shamrocks were competitive in all 3 games – winning all 3 in fact.
Its important that these lads are exposed to as much hurling as possible, whether it be blitzes, matches, training or indeed at home. Thats the only way they will learn the basics of the game. All players got plenty of game time and did themselves proud.
Next u8 blitz is Saturday June 8th, a football one.
Players who took part: Aidan Brady, Eoin O’Flynn, Josh Bartlett, Michael Foy, Cathal O’Donovan, Robert Barrett, Ferdia Hayes and Diarmuid Cahill.
