Grenagh 3-15, Shamrocks 3-9
Once Grenagh arrived Thursday night with only 11 players, the whole aspect of the game to be changed. Playing a goalkeeper and two players at each line (backs, Halfbacks etc.)allowed us to try players in different positions. It is a very big field with only eleven players on it, so open spaces were a plenty.
Grenagh to their credit seemed to use this to better effect.
In what was a very open, flowing game of hurling both teams seemed to relish the opportunity to express the hurling prowess, which those of us on the sideline were delighted to enjoy.
Shamrocks played fast passing hurling in the first half and took their scores well and deserved to lead at half time 2-5 to 1-6. Grenagh however were there for a match and came out after the interval with A goal and three points within the first two minutes. A point from S O Brien stopped the rot but three more points unanswered for Grenagh gave them a grip on the game. The scores went tit for tat until the final whistle blew.
Again I say well done lads for a disciplined effort of hard fought hurling that you and your mentors can be proud of.
