JAFL V Ballygarvan – 26/3

Ballygarvan 1-20, Shamrocks 1-6

This game was played in sub zero temperatures.  However this did not deter Ballygarvan from running into a eight point lead in the first fifteen minutes and holding Shamrocks scoreless.  It was over as a contest at the break with the home side 1 – 14 to 0- 3 ahead.

Scores were even in the second period 1 – 3 to 0 – 6. Ballygarvan had a mixture of experience and youth and they were fast out of the blocks for every ball. On the other hand Shamrocks were missing a few reliable regulars, who certainly would have made a difference on the night.  Goalkeeper Fergus O’Neil excelled and the Ballygarvan forwards kept him on his toes.  Seanan Collins put in a huge effort up front with Senan Andrews, Colin Brady, Michael O’Neill, Robbie Harrington and Canice Caffrey always giving of their best.

A lot of work must be done between now and the championship and hopefully, many of our players, after a bit of soul searching, will measure up to the requirements.
