The death was announced over the weekend of Tommy (Tucker) O’Rourke.
Tommy lived in Carrigaline for many years,but was born in Ringaskiddy. In his youthful years he played hurling and football with Shamrocks along with his late brother Billy (Rusty). He also played at Junior level.
Along with Billy he was a member of The Shamrock Under 16 team of 1952 which became the first team to win a South-East Cork Hurling and Football double. The other team members were Josie Hickey, Paddy O’Flynn, Sonny Fehilly, Jim Turner, John McCarthy, Justin O’Callaghan, Paul Browne, Joe O’Driscoll, Michael Casey, Declan McDonnell, Leo Hickey, Ronnie Sisk and Joe O’Flynn. His mother Minnie was an accomplished camogie player and lined out with Shamrocks in the 1920’s.
