The annual Long Puck competition organised by The Shamrock Hurling Club drew a large attendance with some fine scores being recorded in blustry conditions.
The traditional route, starting at the Oratory in Ringaskiddy via the Pfizer Road through to Shanbally offered many challanges to the participants. This event is now part of the Club’s Christmas calendar and is a welcome out of doors event for members and friends over the holiday period. There were a number of former Club players on vacation from Australia taking part and they relished every moment.
Teddy McCarthy was the guest of honour and despite many demands on his time he was on hand to present the prizes. Club Chairman Pat McCarthy expressed his sincere thanks to all the participants and the tremendous goodwill they have shown to the Club. He had a special word of thanks for Mr. Mark Hickey and the Shamrock Bar for their continued sponsorship of The Long Puck competition.
