U9 Hurling Blitz – 4/11

Shamrocks travelled to St. Vincents Hurling and Football Club on Sunday 4th of November for their second hurling blitz which was run by Coiste na nOg. Players were on the road at nine o’clock for a 9.45am start.

Shamrocks were drawn against Blarney, Na Piarsiagh and Ballincollig. The lads played against Blarney first in what can only be described as Arctic conditions. With temperatures at only 5 degrees a cold biting wind and driving sleet it was hard for both teams to perform any way near their best.

Shamrocks were up against Na Piarsiagh in their second match and after a change of jerseys after the first match (to try and heat the lads up), they took to the field again but were no match for a very physical northside team.

There was a decision made after this game by the mentors of both Shamrocks and Ballincollig not to play the last game as some of the lads couldn’t feel their hands. Thats how cold it was.

Thanks to John Neville for inviting us and to the players and parents who were on the road very early. Players on duty were Sean Andrews, Harry Andrews, Cian O’Flaherty, Fionn Mehigan, Fionn Herlihy, Robert Van Pelt, Mark Sisk, Daniel O Brien, Colin Murphy, Michael Foy and Eoin O Flynn.
