The club are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Liam Shanahan as our new Schools Coach and Education Officer. Liam’s job will basically involve him going into the 3 schools in the parish (namely Scoil Barra Naofa (Monkstown NS), Shanbally NS and Ringaskiddy Lower Harbour NS) and coaching the boys and girls in all the classes in the skills of Gaelic Games. Liam will be liasing with the schools on a coaching plan for the rest of the school year and he will be visiting the schools once every forthnight.
This is a big development for the club and its hoped to see a positive effect on the underage numbers currently playing for us. Liam is raring to go and will be taking his first sessions this coming week. Shanbally native Liam has extensive knowledge of Gaelic Games having been involved all his life, being a former player and serving more recently as club chairman between the years 2009 and 2011. Of course Liam is also a former principal of Shanbally NS so im sure you’ll agree that he is the perfect man for this new and important challenge. We wish him well.
