We held our now annual Fundraising 10km Run/5km Walk for 2012 on Saturday last. The weather was fantastic and the turnout, in particular from the parents was excellent. Our sincere thanks to everyone, idir óg ‘is aosta, who got involved.
The event organisers John Twomey (Ringaskiddy) and Liam Shanahan were very happy with the way things went. Our thanks to them for the effort they put in. But the happiest man was club Treasurer John Twomey (Shanbally) who’s evey lit up every time competitors came forward with their sponsorship cards. John sat in the corner and counted the money while the rest of us sweated our way around the roads of Shanablly and Ringaskiddy. Well done to all the runners and walkers. The first man past the post was Mr Paddy Clifford from Shanbally NS. This is the second year in a row that Paddy has done this.
Thanks to all our course stewards and to the Order of Malta who were on standby in case anything untoward happened (it didnt!). Also to all the ladies in the kitchen who provided sandwiches and refreshiments afterwards. Also thanks to the on course marshall Kieran Lynam who made sure everything ran off shooth on the day.
Afterwards, Club Chairman Pat McCarthy thanked everyone and announced that the money raised will be going towards the installation of floodlights on the bottom pitch, work to start hopefully this side of Christmas and to be ready for the start of February. All club teams will then be in a position to avail of the lights.
