U15 Hurling League Final V Grenagh – 20/10

Grenagh 5-7, Shamrocks 1-6

We travelled to Grenagh on Saturday for our u/15 hurling league final and got off to a bad start where we found ourselves 1-01 to no score after only two minutes.

Grenagh then got a second goal before we got on the scoreboard with two points from play having missed a handful of chances. Even though we were playing some great hurling at this stage we conceded a third goal but the lads kept going and scored 1-02 coming up to half time; only for Grenagh to tag on another three points to go in at half time leading on a score of 3-04 to 1-04.

The second half started with Grenagh scoring two goals in quick succession and even though there was great hurling from end to end Shamrocks could not reduce the deficit and they only managed two points in the second half where as thye home side scored another four points to run out winners on a scoreline of 5-08 to 1-06.

The score line does not reflect how well the team played and to see some great individual performances, maybe if we had more games during the year it could have been a different story but even so well done to all the lads for their efforts during the year and we hope to see them ALL back in a Shamrocks jersey in 2013. Thanks also to the mentors Peter Crowley, Dick Andrews, Kevin O’Grady and John Herlihy.
