Dripsey 4-8, Shamrocks 4-3
Shamrocks travelled to Dripsey for the replay of the football championship semi final on Saturday.
The game was played at a brisk pace with some end to end football and Dripsey took a four point lead before the lads settled down and came into the game more to score three points. At this stage Shamrocks had most of the play and with a few minutes to go to half time Coby O ‘Grady gathered the ball in midfield and ran through the Dripsey defence to score a great goal; but we could not capitalize on this and missed two glorious chances to go further ahead. Then against the run of play Dripsey came down field to score a goal on the stroke of halftime to lead 1-04 to 1-03.
The second half started at a fast pace and Dripsey took a five point lead before the lads brought it back to two points only for Dripsey to increase their lead again. Even though Shamrocks had strong periods of play we failed to take a lot of scoring chances and Dripsey ran out winners on a scoreline of 4-08 to 4-03.
On a positive note the team are now looking ahead to Wednesdays hurling league final against Grenagh in Shanbally.
