Last weekend the death of Mrs. Marie Murphy was announced.
Marie was wife of Weeshie Murphy, a great player and good friend of The Shamrock Club. She was married to Weeshie for 33 years and left a family of one daughter and four sons. Weeshie was an outstnding hurler with Passage in the 1970’s and in the early 1980’s he joined Shamrocks. In 1981 he won a South-East Cork Hurling medal. He has been a good friend of the Club and has coached hurling at adult and under age levels. Whenever there was a call to ‘put the shoulder to the wheel’ Weeshie would not be found wanting.
There were large attendances at both her removal and Funeral Mass, which was held in St. John’s Church, Carrigaline and celebrated by Rev. Fr. Charlie Nyhan C.C. Deepest sympathy is extended to Weeshie, his family, her mother, brothers and sisters and large circle of relatives and friends. Ar dheis De go raigh a h-Anam dilis.
