Shamrocks GAA Club Scrap Metal Collection Fundraiser was held on the weekend of Friday April 27th to Sunday April 29th.
The clubs car park was turned into the proverbial scrap yard and the response was fantastic and the people involved were very happy with the response of the community. We had cars, trucks and vans of all shapes and sizes depositing everything from 10 gram nails to Fiat Puntos and old 1/4 ton boilers.
We’d like to thanks the two main driving forces behind the event – Finbarr O’Flaherty and Kieran Lynam who brought great drive and energy to the whole thing and sourced scrap where many thought the sun didnt even shine. They were on hand all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday and visited all corners of the parish and beyond! Well done lads.
Not far behind them were both John Twomeys, John Hanley, John Jordan who seemed to be fasting for the weekend he was so busy, Club Chairman Pat McCarthy who was all business in his boiler suit, Dave O’Neill and his brother Stephen who had all the equipment on standby. Terence O’Keeffe also chipped in with a lorry or two. Jason Browne, Patrick Andrews and Declan O’Neill also lent a few hours hand at the pitch. I hope i havent left anyone out here.
We’d like to thank everyone who made the effort to support us and brought metal to the pitch. There are still a few hours to go on Sunday morning before the place is tidied up and we can get ready again for putting on the boots.
