There was a players meeting last Tuesday night in the Clubhouse after training (in the Marine College).
The various selectors/mentors for the Junior teams were announced to the players by Pat McCarthy and John Twomey (Shanbally). They are as follows – Junior A Football: Pat McCarthy, Tony O’Sullivan, Paddy O’Mahony and Dave O’Flaherty. Junior A Hurling: John Twomey (Shanbally – chairman of selection committee), Pat O’Neill, Declan O’Neill, John Hanley and Dick Andrews. Junior B Football – Patrick Andrews, Peter Prout, Stephen Jordan. Shamrocks will also be entering the Junior B Hurling League later on in the year. As of now, nobody knows what Regional leagues Shamrocks will be playing in, which is a most disappointing situation to be in at this time of year.
Training will continue for all Juniors and U21’s on Tuesday nights in the Maritime College in Ringaskiddy, incorporating a fitness test in early February. Thursday nights will be resuming in the next few week at the Track, more to follow on that.
There will be Junior Hurling and Football Training for the next few weeks from 3pm to 4pm on the Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 1pm STARTING THIS COMING WEEKEND. The idea is to just get everyone back into using a ball and getting the touch going in the hurling. If you train on the Saturday, you dont have to train on the Sunday and vice versa. Of course, players are welcome to train both days if they wish!
John Twomey (Ringaskiddy) spoke briefly about forthcoming changes to the running of the Club Lotto, incorporating the players. He thanked the players on behalf of the Fuindraising Committee for their support in the Floodlighting project last October.
Training this Saturday (January 21st) at 3pm at the pitch.
