The death has taken place of Maureen O’Sullivan late of Coolmore in her 87th year.
Maureen was a former winning Captain of the Shamrock Camogie team. In 1949 she captained the Shamrock Junior Camogie team to win the County final played in Cobh. She was one of the youngest members of the team and was a very skillful player. The team was coached by Georgie Andrews . The other members of the team were the Harding sisters from the Kennel boreen, Hannah, Kathleen and Noreen, Kathleen Farrell (still going strong at 95 years of age), Norrie Dunne, Minnie Jeffers, Mary Hayes, Faye Kind, Nell Bradley, Ettie Hayes, Pat Livesey, Pauline Nugent, Marie Murphy and Dolly Crowley.
In 1999 to mark the 50th anniversary of the victory The Club organised a re-union for members and next of kin of the deceased at The Monkstown Golf Club. Ar dheis De go raibh ah-Anam dilis.
