St Nicks U21 Football Tournament – 27/11

St Nicks 4-9, Shamrocks 3-7

The Shamrock Under 21 Football Team, captained by Canice Caffrey, put up a commendable performance against St. Nicks in The Glen Field on Sunday afternoon last November 27th.  This Tournament, organised by the host Club St. Nicks, provides four valuable games in the closed season.
Played in ideal conditions, there was a high level of sportsmanship prevailing all round. St. Nicks were to the fore 1-1 to 0-0 after fifteen minutes.  Shamrocks went up a gear and when the halftime whistle came the sides were level 2-3 each, James Raleigh and Joey Brady amung the goalscorers.
In the second period Shamrocks were in front on three occasions and scores came aplenty from both sides.  A stronger finish by the host Club saw them come out on top eventually 4-9 to 3-7. The team on duty gave a very committed performance and Team Manager Pat McCarthy expressed his satisfaction afterwards.
In goal Jack Wilson puled off some superb saves.  Also catching the eye on different occasions were Conor Walters, Sean O’Brien, Cathal Kidney, Brian Cusack, Tony O’Mahony and Jamie O’Driscoll.
