Shamrocks hosted an U8 football blitz last Saturday. The teams that competed were Gleann Na Laoi, Ballinacurra, Brian Dillons & Shamrocks. All four teams were evenly matched and some great games were had. Shamrocks opened up with a very had earned win over Gleann Na Laoi on a score line of 1-03 to 0-04. They then had to rely on a last minute goal by Sean Andrews in our game against Ballinacurra to draw the match. We then defeated Brian Dillons in our last game to leave our lads on a high.
Some fantastic performances were given by all the players. These players have all started with our Academy and now are getting their rewards on the playing pitch. Much credit must go to the coaches of Jed O’Flaherty, Dick Andrews, Kieran Kramer & John Jordan for looking after these lads. Thanks also to all the parents who made refreshments and especially to Roisin & Catherine who looked after the kitchen duties for the day. Thanks must also go to Frank Van Pelt who was again on hand with his camera.
It was great to see a large gathering of supporters for all four teams as parents, Grandparents, brothers and sisters turned out to see the stars of tomorrow. All the teams were treated to refreshments and the large following were well looked after by the girls in the kitchen.
