Kieran Hegarty RIP

Please see below official statement from Shamrocks GAA Club following the untimely and tragic death of one of our members last evening.

May 4th 2011
The President, Chairman, Officers and all members of The Shamrock Hurling & Football Club are deeply shocked and saddened by the untimely death of our esteemed playing member Kieran Hegarty R.I.P.

Deepest and heartfelt sympathy is extended to his dear mother Mary, and his sisters Susan and Sinead.
Kieran Hegarty was a most popular and highly respected playing member of our Club where he excelled in both hurling and football. He recently played on the Junior Football Championship winning side that defeated Kinsale.
Last evening at Pairc Tadgh O’Annlaoi in Shanbally, a routine hurling training session took place and Kieran participated with his friends and team mates. When completed the players retired to the Dressing rooms and shortly after coming in, Kieran took ill.

Immediately the Club emergency plan was invoked by the Chairman. Despite the best efforts of Club members utilising their Defibrillator and the emergency Ambulance services, his death was announced shortly after arriving at C.U.H.

This is a most traumatic and shocking experience for our Club, its players, members and wide circle of supporters here in the lower harbour.
All Club activities have been cancelled up to and including next Sunday, as a mark of respect.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a Anam dilis.

Liam O’Seanachain
Chairman
Shamrocks Hurling & Football Club
