U12 HL V Kinsale 2 – 9/5

On Thursday, 9th of May, Shamrocks travelled to Kinsale on what was a glorious evening for hurling. Having fifteen players we opted to play fifteen a-side. The first half was a low scoring affair with both teams defending brilliantly. For Shamrocks Callum Gregson, Callum O’Neill and Seamus O’ Mahony were superb in the full back line and were well assisted by Shane O’ Mahony at centre-back. Despite their heroics Kinsale managed 2-2 in the first half but 1-2 from Cian lynch, a fine point from Luke Jordan and a long range speculative goal from Shane O’ Flynn at wing back, ensured Shamrocks were only one point in arrears at half time, 2-2 to 2-1.

In the second half a plentiful supply of the sliotar from the midfield duo of David Herlihy and Evan Browne made the scoreboard move in Shamrock’s favour. There were six wonderful points from play and Kinsale were held scoreless  until the final minutes.  Cian Lynch scoring 0-4 ( 0-3 from play), two fine points from Luke Jordan and a massive point from Evan Browne  made sure Shamrocks were the dominant team in this half.  Though Shamrocks conceded two late goals  they managed to hang on, by the bare minimum, for a fantastic victory, 2-9 to 4-2.
