MBHL V Lisgoold – 9/4

Lisgoold 2-16, Shamrocks 2-9

Shamrocks travelled to Lisgoold to play our second game of the campaign and having lost the toss, they had to play into a very strong sun which made scores hard to come by. After a couple of close wides it was Lisgoold who took the lead. There was some great hurling played from both sides and after twenty minutes the score was Lisgoold 0-5, Shamrocks 0-2. Andrew O’Grady was then pulled to the ground for a penalty which he struck beautifully to put the ball into the back of the Lisgoold net to even the scoreboard; both teams exchanged a point each and just on the stroke of HT Lisgoold got another point to go in at the break on a score line of 1-8 to 1-0.

The sun had all but disappeared for the second half and Lisgoold increased their lead further only for the Shamrocks lads to score two points and a goal from Darragh Scriven to bring it back to one point, both teams then exchanged point for point and in the last few minutes Lisgoold got two quick goals and a point to run out victors on a score line of 2-16 to 2-09.
