U14 Hurling Tournament V Passage – 21/9

Passage 4-10, Shamrocks 0-5

Shamrocks travelled to Passage on Sunday evening to play their first game in the Dan O’Mahony u14 hurling tournament,  which is organised by the Passage club. Shamrocks came up against opposition who are playing a grade higher than them and found the going tough all through. However, they battled hard at all times and thats what the mentors are looking for from this tournament as they cast an eye to next years team.

Shamrocks were competitive early on after Passage had opened with a goal and scored some points from Cillian Hayes who was hurling well at midfield. But Passage were finding scores much easier to come by at the other end and led 3-6 to 0-3 at HT.

Shamrocks battled hard throughout the second half and cannot be faulted for effort. Shane Downey brought out a great save from the Passage keeper midway through the second half. Howver, passsge finished comfortable winners in the end.

The idea of this tournament from a Shamrocks point of view is to get as many hurling games as possible and to learn a few things on the way and hopefully their hurling will improve.
