MHL V Kinsale – 22/8

Shamrocks 4-15, Kinsale 0-4

Shamrocks had a comfortable victory over Kinsale on Friday evening in Shanbally and they are now joint top of the table as a result.

After a slow enough opening 15 minutes, after which Shamrocks led 0-4 to 0-1, Shamrocks sent on u16 players David Andrews and the game was put to bed as a result. He scored 2 goals straight away and set up numerous other scores, including Eric Desmonds goal. Others to add their name to the score sheet in that half were Darragh Scriven from midfield, Aonghus Boland and Brendan Crowley with a neat point from the half forward line and Andrew O’Grady who slotted over 2 frees. Shamrocks led 3-8 to 0-2 at halftime.

Kinsle made more of a game of it in the second half and Shamrocks had to fight for their scores up the hill. Andrews completed his hatrick of goals late on while Scriven, Boland and O’Grady tagged on a few points. The backs kept things tight at the other end to keep a clean sheet. Focus now turns to Monday nights u16 game v Clyda Rovers followed by the MHC Semi Final against Cobh on Sunday next week.
