U16 FL V Grenagh – 23/3

Grenagh 3-9, Shamrocks 4-3

Shamrocks u16’s had an early start on Sunday morning as they made the journey to Grenagh to play their first Football league game of the campaign.

Unfortunately  numbers were very tight on the day and so the lads had to play 11 v 12 for the whole game. Scores were very hard to come by in the first half and the lads trailed by 1-4 to 2 points at the interval.

Grenagh started brightly and goaled again immediately after the restart and followed up with 2 points to leave the lads trailing by 2-6 to  2 points. Midway through the 2nd half Shamrocks hit a purple patch with 2 goals from Dylan O’ Flaherty, one from Christopher Hayes and another from Andrew O’Grady and now led by 2 points. Shamrocks then a penalty saved after a foul on O’ Flaherty. Another point scored by Mark Hitchmough was’nt enough as Grenagh scored 1-3 late on. There were excellent performances on the day from Nathan Hayes,Shane Flavin and Dylan O’ Flaherty.
