Shamrocks 2-12, Whitescross 1-8
The lads put in an outstanding performance in very testing conditions last Friday night. Plenty of water was on hand to keep everyone well hydrated.
We started very well and soon had 2-02 on the board. The movement from our players was a joy to behold. Dylan O Flaherty and Sean Browne were dominating the midfield and with Sean Andrews, Cian O Flaherty and Sam Geary causing all sorts of problems for the Whitescross defence it was looking good for this youthful Shanmrocks outfit. To Whitescross’s credit the never gave up and by the half time whistle we were only leading by 1 point. 2-03 to 1-05.
After the break our backs played great football in clearing their lines at every opportunity. Cian O Flaherty took over the goalkeeping duties from Harry Andrews. The Sisk brothers Jody and Mark were getting the better of their opponents along with the rock solid Evan Seymour and the forever running Fionn Herlihy. Our midfielders and half forwards again took control and put over 13 points in the second half to leave us the winners on a scoreline of 2-12 to 1-08. Credit must go to every player involved and to the parents who gave up their time to provide the transport to Whitescross on a brilliant Summers evening.
