U13 Football V Cill na Martra – 20/3

Shamrocks 5-6, Cill na Martra 2-19

Cill na Martra made to long journey from an Ghaeltacht Mhuscraí a winning one as they recorded a 4 point win over a gallant Shamrocks side on Sunday afternoon last. Cill Na Martra were a good team, They started the stronger side and were 1-03 to 0-00 in the first ten minutes before Shamrocks got on the scoreboard with 1-01. There was end to end action with both teams scoring points Shamrocks (3) and Cill Na Martra (6). Then on the stroke of half time Shamrocks got a second goal to make it 2-04 to 1-09.

The second half started with Cill Na Martra getting a point and we got a third goal to level the match but Cill Na Martra seemed to be able to score points from any angle. They were better footballers and always seemed to take the right option when in possession.  They started to put a gap of eight points between the sides but to give credit to the lads they kept going and got another  goal and two points, then with about two minutes remaining Shamrocks got a fifth goal to peg it back to three points but try as they might they could not break down Cill Na Martra who got another point to run out winners on a score line of 5-06 to 2-19.

The team was Cory Caffrey, Eoin Horgan, Cormac Scriven, Joseph O’Keeffe, David Barry, Mark Hitchmough, David Andrews, Daniel Carroll, Andrew O’ Grady, David O’Sullivan, Ruairi Meighan and Killian Murphy. Subs used were Adam Jones, James Lynam, David Howard and Shane Flavin. Good to see bigger numbers togged off this week. Training continues next weekend.
