Mayfield 2-10, Shamrocks 0-12
Shamrocks travelled to Mayfield to take on the hosts in the semi final of the u14 hurling league on Sunday morning. Pitch conditions were heavy but this didn’t stop both teams contributing to a great game of hurling that both sets of supporters enjoyed. Teams were level throughout the first half but a goal from Mayfield just before half time left them leading on a scoreline of 1-07 to 0-05 at the break.
Great words of encouragement were spoken at half-time and not long after the restart we had the lead reduced to 2 points when we got some fine points from play. Mid way through 2nd half Mayfield got their second goal to leave us playing catch up again. The lads kept going to the full time whistle but we just came up short at the end on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-12. Great credit is due to these players and also to their parents who again travelled in great numbers.
